Freedom of Information Act
FOIArequest.org
Make a FOIA Request. Under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), anyone has the right to request
information from the government. Many Americans -- especially those with family and friends abroad --
are wondering whether government agents have been listening to their phone conversations or reading
their email. If you're worried this has happened to you, you can use this site to help you find out.

The National Security Archive
An independent, non-governmental research institute and library located at The George Washington
University, the Archive collects and publishes declassified documents obtained through the Freedom of
Information Act. The Archive also serves as a repository of government records on a wide range of topics
pertaining to the national security, foreign, intelligence, and economic policies of the United States.

Public Citizen Website
A FOIA request can be as simple as a letter requesting public records. However, your pursuit of
government information will be more likely to succeed if you do some preliminary research to identify
where the information is likely to be located, and how to draft an effective request. This page
identifies important resources that you should consult.
